The Axe Man is a creature that appears in the Resident Evil film series. It is a humanoid bio-weapon created by Umbrella by experimenting on Undead subjects. It is adorned with a dark apron and a sack covering its head. It carries a large axe with a hammer opposite the blade.

Resident Evil: Afterlife[]
A lone Axe Man was deployed from the Arcadia by Albert Wesker and sent to attack the pandemic survivors at the Citadel Correctional Facility. It used its giant hammer-axe to break down the prison's main gate, allowing a horde of Undead to swarm in. Alice and the others attempted to escape via a tunnel dug by a mutated Undead, but the Axe Man reached them first and killed one of the group. Alice and Claire Redfield then fought the monster inside the prison shower room, but the monster was extremely durable and difficult to put down. Alice finally killed the Axe Man using a small shotgun loaded with old coins. firing point-blank at the creature's head and obliterating it.
Resident Evil: Retribution[]
Alice and Ada Wong encountered two Axe Men while trying to get through the New York testing area in Umbrella Prime. Both Axe Men are killed when their weapons become lodged in the frame of a taxi cab in an attempt to kill Alice. Ada and Alice dispatch the pair by shooting the gas tank which causes an explosion strong enough to kill both creatures.
Abilities[]
An enhanced version of an Undead human, the Axe Man possesses superhuman strength and durability. It can shrug off gunfire easily and can even withstand headshots unless they are from higher caliber weapons and fired at point-blank range. The Axe Man is strong enough to lift its heavy axe and run at the same time. It is even capable of throwing its axe in order to kill more distant prey.
