Atshen are a group of monstrous beings from Inuit folklore. They come from a large family of monsters known as Anthropophagist Monsters, which often have origins as humans but have been transformed due to the taboo of cannibalism into ravenous beasts. They are not as well known as the infamous Wendigo and as a result are often restricted to their local folklore.
History[]
Atshen were depicted as cannibalistic monsters from Inuit folklore and shared many similarities to the Wendigo. Born from the cursed souls of those who engage in cannibalism. These creatures hunt victims in the permafrost and like many creatures in Inuit folklore, are an embodiment of the brutal, unforgiving landscape in which many Inuit tribes had to survive.
