Ashigaru are a type of Resurrectionist minion which appear in Wyrd Games Malifaux universe.
Description[]
As long-dead warriors called forth from the grave, the Ashigaru dress in tattered robes, corroded steel lamellar armour, and carry long rusty yari, a type of long-bladed spear. This spear, whilst many years out of date by modern standards, is a deadly weapon in the hands of an Ashigaru, and its cutting edge is coated with a highly-potent toxin which can, over time, do as much damage as the weapon itself.
History[]
These creatures are what is left of the mortal soldiery which once served the warlords of the Three Kingdoms, the now-united countries of Vietnam, China, and Japan on our side of the Great Breach. As with many of the undead inhabitants of Malifaux, these walking corpses retain a certain memory of their purpose in life, and with the Ashigaru this was to protect their masters. As a result, Ashigaru are highly adept at bodyguard duties, and will relentlessly attack those who would seek to do harm to the one who summoned them.
