Around eight metres (26 feet) in height, Arrowtongues are amongst the largest of Darwin IV’s predators, and have been compared to the tyrannosaurs of Earth’s prehistory. Solitary hunters capable of reaching speeds of nearly forty miles per hour, they are bipedal creatures who use their long proboscis-like tongues (from which they take their name) to impale their prey. Once a victim has been thus secured, they will then use this appendage to drain it of the vital fluids which are so coveted in that arid landscape.
