Victor Borkowski - also known as "Anole" - is a mutant character from Marvel Comics. Originally appearing in the 2003 serial New Mutants, he originally came from a small town in Illinois that was overall accepting of his mutant condition. However, anti-mutant bigots eventually began spreading messages of hate and mistrust, causing Victor's parents to send him off to the Xavier Institute, both for the sake of academic success and his own safety.
While attending school at the Xavier Institute, Victor also took up training to become a future member of the X-Men. He would excel in his studies and make great use of his mutant abilities in dangerous scenarios, though he often had trouble finding acceptance among his peers due to his sexuality. Anole was openly gay and found it difficult to cope with the social stigma of being both homosexual and a mutant. He would also express a great disdain for how the X-Men seemed to frequently cycle through their members as teammates left or even died, deciding at one point to leave the Xavier Institute. He would eventually be convinced to return after the X-Men relocate to San Fransisco and completes his education as well as becoming a full-fledged X-Man.
Mutation[]
Anole is a mutant that can easily be told apart from normal humans; he possesses many reptile traits such as green, scaly skin, wallcrawling abilities and a long, sticky tongue. He also possesses a reptilian healing factor which allows him to regenerate lost limbs; he lost his right arm in battle and it grew back, though it is distinctly longer and misshapen as well as being covered in scaly spikes. Lastly, Anole can also camouflage himself like a chameleon, altering his skin pigmentation at will to blend into the environment.
