Alfur is a character from the Hilda graphic novels and animated series. He is an elf who has befriended Hilda and has joined her on her adventures in Trolberg.
Biography[]
Animated Series[]
In the Netflix series, Alfur revealed himself to Hilda after his elven community tried to force Hilda and her mother Johanna to leave their house in the wilderness. Unlike the other elves, Alfur was far more sympathetic and knew that the humans weren't aware that they were causing distress to their tiny neighbours. He introduced himself to Hilda and provided her with the appropriate paperwork that she had to sign in order to see the elves. With Hilda now aware of the elves' presence, Alfur showed her his village and informed her of how her presence was frightening the residents.
Alfur later introduced Hilda to the elven Prime Minister, but the Prime Minister refused to call off the elf forces that were harrassing the humans. Breaking protocol, Alfur then took Hilda to meet the Elf King. After Hilda saved the King's life by moving his castle off the shoulder of the giant Valfreyja, the King and Hilda signed a truce and the elves ceased their hostilities. Unfortunately, the truce was rendered meaningless when Jorgen accidentally destroyed Hilda and Johanna's house, forcing them to move to the city of Trolberg.
When Hilda and Johanna left for Trolberg, Alfur joined them so that he could report to his people on life in the city. He has since joined Hilda and her human friends Frida and David on their many adventures, learning about the lives of humans, the mysterious creatures that also live in the city, and even discovering a long-lost elf tribe - the Bragga Clan - and ending a centuries-old feud with his own Alric Clan.
Graphic Novels[]
Alfur does not feature as prominently in the books as he does in the animated series. While he did help Hilda make peace with the elves, he didn't move to Trolberg with her after her house was destroyed.
Appearance[]
Alfur almost resembles a stick figure, like all of his kind. He has white skin and hair, is clean-shaven, wears a red shirt and pointed hat, and has stick-like arms and legs with no visible hands or feet.
Personality[]
Alfur is shown to love writing reports about Trolberg to the other Aldric elves. He is mostly known for paperwork and contracts, such as contracts for the Bragga Clan and paperworks so that other humans can see him, such as Hilda and Frida.
In the novelization, he and Hilda have a rougher start of their friendship, with Alfur even calling Hilda a bully at one point, but he quickly warms up to her.
