Aerodactyl Rock/Flying-type Pokémon based on a pterosaur. Believed to have gone extinct millennia ago, it has since been resurrected in modern times thanks to genetic engineering technology and has been reintroduced into the wild in certain regions. Aerodactyl can be cloned from ancient DNA extracted from an Old Amber.
Pokédex Data[]
Aerodactyl is a flying reptilian Pokémon, sporting grey scaly skin, green eyes, horns upon its head, winged arms with a purple-coloured membrane and a long tail ending with an arrow-shaped tip. Its hind legs sport two-toed feet ending in claws and its back is adorned with blunt horn-like protrusions. Its crooked mouth is filled with many sharp fangs, though its lower jaw sports more fangs than the upper jaw.
Aerodactyl is one of the most vicious species of Pokémon known to man. It swoops down from the sky to grab groundborne prey with its talons and will use its saw-like teeth to rip them to shreds. Its teeth and jaws are so strong that they can even tear through the skin of Steel-type Pokémon. Solitary creatures, Aerodactyl make isolated nests up in mountainous areas where they are unlikely to be bothered by humans or other Pokémon.
Aerodactyl was believed to have been rendered extinct millions of years ago following the impact of a giant meteor. In modern times, however, genetic laboratories in both Kanto and Sinnoh have managed to resurrect the species after discovering genetic material preserved in ancient deposits of amber. The Aerodactyl population remains small, though a relatively large number of them can be found in the Galar region's Crown Tundra.
Moveset[]
- Fly - Aerodactyl is a naturally-skilled flyer and catches its prey by divebombing and catching it with its talons. Aerodactyl is also large enough to carry a human upon its back.
- Crunch - Aerodactyl bites into its prey hard, using its serrated fangs to tear them to pieces.
- Scary Face - Aerodactyl's frightful visage can cause an opponent to freeze with terror.
- Rock Slide - Aerodactyl crunches up rocks with its powerful jaws before using its tail to launch the debris at opponents.
- Roar - Aerodactyl's ferocious cry will send lesser Pokémon running in fear.
- Iron Head - Aerodactyl strikes its opponent using its thick, tough skull.
- Agility - Aerodactyl flies at high speeds in order to avoid attacks.
- Hyper Beam - Aerodactyl fires a destructive beam of energy from its mouth that causes heavy damage. It must take a moment to recharge after using this attack.
- Giga Impact - Aerodactyl flies at maximum speed to ram its opponent with all its might. It must take a brief rest after using this attack.
Mega Evolution[]

Aerodactyl can be transformed into Mega Aerodactyl using the Mega Stone Aerodactynite. In its Mega form, it grows black, stony spikes all over its head, wings, torso and tail. These spikes are harder than diamond. Many scholars believe that Aerodactyl's Mega form is how it always appeared back in prehistoric times. In its Mega state, Aerodactyl becomes even more aggressive than usual, lashing out at anything and anyone with little provocation.
The Mega Evolution is temporary and only occurs during battle if the Trainer is carrying a Mega Ring and the Aerodactyl holds the corresponding Mega Stone.
