Abigail Prinn, usually simply referred to as Abbie Prinn, was a character who appeared in the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired Cthulhu Mythos.

History[]

A witch in the town of Salem, Massachusetts around the time of the infamous Witch Trials, Abbie boasted that she was the high priestess of some unnamed dark god which dwelt deep in the mountains of New England. She was said to make sacrifices to a “worm-eaten, crescent-horned image of dubious origin,” and it was these activities which led to her death in 1690.

Abbie had laid a curse on the town before her passing, however, and when a man named Carson moved in to her decrepit old house three centuries later and discovered her secret “Witch Room“ hidden in the basement, the curse was brought to fruition.

Abbie’s desiccated corpse rose from the grave and made its way to the Witch Room, attempting to summon the Great Old One Nyogtha to destroy the town, but was ultimately thwarted by an occultist named Michael Leigh who knew of the Witch Room and had deduced that it was a portal between our world and another. Leigh recited a passage from the cursed Necronomicon and used an arcane elixir to cast both Abbie Prinn and the partially-materialised Nyogtha back through the portal, ending their threat to the world.

Appearances[]

  • Abbie Prinn made her only appearance in the short story The Salem Horror (1937), by Henry Kuttner.
